AWD Couplings

GKN Driveline’s AWD couplings control the transfer of torque to the secondary axle in an on-demand AWD system. They are equally functional acting across a centre differential in a fulltime AWD system to optimally tune the behaviour of the base mechanical system.
Viscous couplings are purely mechanical and respond tunably to the speed difference across them. Active couplings receive information about vehicle behaviour and environment to direct torque in the driveline, achieving the goals of the vehicle manufacturer.
Geared centre differentials, including the innovative DualDiff, provide a differentiated and cost effective alternative to on-demand AWD.
